Personal Profile

I am a confident and enthusiastic individual who is able to work on my own initiative and also well as part of a team. I enjoy a challenge and thrive under pressure and working to strict deadlines. I have strong organisational skills with an eye for detail. Over the past few years I have acquired a wide range of skills in the Print and Publishing industry which includes the technical skills necessary for operating within the digital media production process. I have a flair for design and I am currently seeking a role which will provide me with the opportunity to further enhance my skills within the industry. I have used Adobe Photoshop for over ten years and working towards Adobe Certified Expert exam.

Work Experience

Advanced Images Ltd

Mac Operator March 2007 – August 2008
Making schedules for the main property agencies in central Scotland.
Duties include retouching pictures to a high standard using Photoshop via Adobe Bridge, making up schedules with the provided templates and making alterations at the customer’s request. Responsibilities were sending documents to print on an IGEN digital printer, creating PDF documents for the web and maintaining a high standard throughout my work flow. My role involves communications between middle management and the printers and finishers.

Self Employed

Promotions/Marketing Assistant September 2005 – December 2006
Helped a friend set up a club in Tenerife. Duties included, helping with the initial set up i.e. Promotional/marketing campaigns and running of the club.
Promotion involved creating flyers using Photoshop and communicating with printers. This helped me develop my interpersonal skills at many levels.

South Lanarkshire Council

Support Worker November 2004 – September 2005
For more than a year I worked with youths encouraging teamwork within the groups which was very rewarding and taught me invaluable leadership skills. I also used my skills in digital media to create posters for the youth centre and hold classes in Photoshop. In particular I had the opportunity to work with normally disruptive youths, my duties were to create activities for them at lunch breaks and generally support the teaching staff.

Workers Beer Company

Cellar Manager June 2001 – September 2005
Voluntary work behind the bar regularly at festivals such as Glastonbury, Leeds Festival and Gig in the Green raising funds for Rock around the Blockade charity. Through my experiences at working at these festivals I developed from bar work to Cellar manager this included unloading the fridge truck, restocking the bar, keeping stock lists and changing barrels.

First Press Publishing

Photoshop Operator June 1999 – November 2001
Photoshopped and retouched photographs for the housing property section in the Glasgow Herald and Slater Hogg and Howison magazines. I successfully trained four new employees in the Photoshop requirements for First Press. I gained extensive general office experience in particular the importance of adhering to deadlines. I also advised and communicated with senior management with reference to quality standards particularly in website pictures which was a new project for the Herald at the time.

Interests

I have many interests including a passion for music. I enjoy playing, recording and listening to music, with this interest in music I completed a Sound Live course through the Princes Trust. This gave me the great opportunity to go to London and perform at the Urban Music Festival in front of a crowd of 18,000 people. At the moment I am developing an interest in photography and Cycling.
